About Nicolas Kourtellis, Ph.D.
Nicolas Kourtellis, Ph.D. is the Head of the Agentic AI Program at Keysight Technologies, leading the AI R&D team based in Barcelona, Spain. Before joining Keysight, he was Head of the Systems AI Lab (SAIL) and Co-Director of Telefonica Scientific Research, a 25+ researcher team based in Barcelona. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of South Florida, USA (2012), and has authored over 100 published peer-reviewed papers and filed 19 patents. Throughout his R&D career, he has focused on agentic AI, wireless estimation and prediction, privacy-preserving AI, federated learning on the edge, modeling and detecting online privacy leaks, and identifying inappropriate or fraudulent behavior on social media.
Nicolas has executed research visits at Argonne National Lab, INRIA, Yahoo, UCL, CUT, AUTH, FORTH, and other leading institutions. He has served on numerous technical committees for top conferences and journals, and has presented his work at top academic and industrial venues including ApacheCon and Mobile World Congress (2021, 2023, 2026).
His work has been covered by major news outlets including Nature, The New York Times, The Atlantic, New Scientist, The Washington Post, and Wired. He was previously ranked among the World's Top 2% Scientists in the list prepared by Elsevier BV and Stanford University, USA.
